These tables were created from data provided by the School Districts, Cities and/or Counties concerned. Such information is from generally reliable sources and is believed to be correct, however no guarantee is made regarding accuracy of the data. Before making a decision for which this data is critical, please check with the appropriate taxing entity. Exemptions are based on filing the exemption with the appropriate entity and are only valid for years in which the claimant resided at the Property on January First.

An exceptionally helpful page with specific property tax information is available at The Property Tax Supersite. It looks like his data is correct, buy I do not warrant it. You can also get a tax map on the property.

To calculate approximate taxes due, start with the appraised value of the Property. You will calculate three figures (which correspond with the three tables below) and add those values together to come up with your approximate tax due.

If you have filed for and can claim either or both of the "Over 65" or "Disabled" exemption, subtract those amounts from the assessed value, then subtract any amount in the "Homestead" column, if applicable.

Since taxes are assessed at so many cents per hundred dollars of assessed value, divide the result by 100. Multiply that number by the tax rate and that will be the amount due to that entity.

You will need a figure for City, one for School District, and one for County, unless the Property is not within City Limits.

REMEMBER: School districts often do NOT follow City lines.

Example: for an "Over 65" individual living in Arlington, who has filed a valid homestead exemption, whose home is in the Mansfield school district, whose property is valued at $100,000:

Reason Amount Math Result
Assessed value $100,000 = 100,000
Deduct "Over 65" 100,000 - 50,000 50,000
Deduct Homestead 50,000 -10,000 40,000
Convert to 100s 40,000 div. by 100 400
City tax due 400 x 0.6400 $256 (A)
Same process for Mansfield Schools $1,256,15 (B)
Same process for Tarrant County $133.30 (C)
Same process for County Hospital $119.92 (D)
Same process for Junior College $27.73 (E)
Total Due A+B+C+D+E= $1,793.10
